Why can't I connect my Stripe account to Tabs ("ineligible")?
Last updated: March 23, 2026
When I try to connect my Stripe account(s), one or more account is listed as "ineligible." Why is this?

This usually means the Stripe account you're trying to connect is already controlled by a different Connect platform, so it can’t be reused in connecting to Tabs. Stripe specifically notes that some connected accounts are “platform controls enabled,” and those users can’t disconnect the administering platform or create a new Connect integration with that same account; instead, they need a new Stripe account.
The likely reasons for this are:
You created their Stripe account through another platform
In that case, the other platform may be the administering platform for that account. Stripe says those accounts can’t be repurposed for a separate Connect integration.
The account is not connected via a Standard OAuth-style connection
Standard accounts can often connect to third-party platforms via OAuth, but Express/Custom-style setups are more platform-managed. Stripe’s documentation distinguishes these models and notes that account configuration affects who controls onboarding and settings.
The account was created as a connected account, not as an independent Stripe account
If you are trying to reuse a connected account created for another SaaS/marketplace, a new platform may correctly reject it, per Stripe functionality and requirements, and you may require a fresh Stripe account. Stripe’s connected-account creation flow is platform-specific.
